Sneak peek into the course!

Make your own art supply!

Through this class, I want to share and inspire you with having a creative, enriching, and mindful art practice of making your own handmade watercolours.

Making your own art supplies is a transformative process that establishes a unifying relationship between you and your artwork.

In this class, I will walk you through a step-by-step process of making watercolour paint using the traditional method of transforming pure pigment into watercolour paint.

In addition, the course also offers detailed information on different classes of pigments, non-toxic vs toxic pigments, tools required, safe and responsible ways to make paint and dispose of the waste respectively, and much more.

There is also a bonus lesson included on making watercolour paint with frugal supplies. This course is packed full of content.

Even though my work focuses purely on making paints using natural pigments, after taking taking this course, and learning the fundamentals you will be able to transform any pigment of your choice into watercolour paint.

Creativity

Let your curiosity guide you as you explore a new creative skill. There is a poetry to the art of making your own colours. It is as satisfying as painting itself!

Mindfulness

Making your own colours is a transformative and mindful process, as you develop a deep sense of awareness, knowledge and connection with your creative tools.

Everday magic

Capturing those small everyday magic moments with your own handmade watercolours gives you a sense of calm and establishes a unifying relationship between you and your art.

Who can take this course?

I have created this class to share everything I know, not just how I do it, but how you can get there yourself without having to face all the roadblocks that I had to. ‍

  • This workshop is for anyone who is curious, interested and self motivated in exploring creative possibilities
  • Anyone, who wants to learn the ancient and traditional art of making paints in a simple ‘do-it-yourself’ approach.
  • No prior experience is required to enrol in this class.

If you have been longing to add another arsenal to your already existing creative skills then this is a great resource for you to get started!

What others have to say:

Paul Wang

Thank you for the privilege to try out your 5 handmade watercolours. The colours rewet easily and little problem picking up the colours with my brush. Ercolano Red & Indigo are 2 of my favourites. This Indigo is plant deprived and just the right shade of Indigo for me.

Jane Blundell

I've always loved earth pigments. ... for anyone who wants to be as green and careful as possible, these colours are really eco-friendly and that is something that Jyotsna is passionate about.

Mansi Shouche

Her scientific background adds to making this resource very organised. I find her energy and happiness in doing what she does both contagious and inspiring , and this comes through in her videos.

I am Jyotsna...

... a scientist and self-taught sustainable watercolour artist. I live in beautiful Austria with my son and husband.

My creative process is deeply rooted in an endless journey of discovery, respecting, and deepening a connection with my local landscape. I am every bit enthralled by the process of making my own watercolour paints from the found treasures of the earth and using them to capture the everyday magical moments of my life!

I am on a journey not only to live a conscious and sustainable life but also to align those values with my creative art practice.
